06.01.10 Snap…Grackle…Pop.

June 1, 2010

I started off the morning with a new bird:  Grackle!  I thought I saw it last week down in the yard but this morning it came right on the deck!  What an interesting looking bird.  I have heard they are pests.  The eyes are crazy looking!

After I got home from work I chilled outside.  I positioned myself between 2 deck chairs that are blocking a stairway down from the deck….totally out of sight….I got some pretty good shots!

This Mourning Dove came and started eating seed on my little seed plate.

…in came a RB Woodpecker (to the right but you can’t see him)…

the faceoff.

The dove stood its ground.  I was surprised and happy! Then a female came in and took a peanut.

He’s baaaaaaaack!

He went on his way after this.  These shots are in the order as I took them.  It was awesome!

I heard a commotion in the side yard.  It was 2 rabbits and they were making like screeching noises and when I walked over they parted.

I watched 2 Downies play on a tree.  Cute!

This chipmunk took off with half the bird seed I put out!

Ahhhhhhh…Good to be HOME!!!      🙂

Grackles are weird looking. Had my one and only visit back in Feb during the Great Backyard Count.

I love the “stand off” picture. Very good timing for that capture!

Cute Bunny….you live in Critter Heaven!

Those grackles can be so noisy. Did you happen to see the shot I had of a few with the moon in the background?

    They are pretty birds though.

Great pictures. I love capturing various species of birds interacting with one another.
