Another beautiful day!  I didn’t have has much bird watching time today as usual but still managed to get some good shots.  As soon as I got up and looked outside I spotted a red winged blackbird.  Awesome!  No picture but it was another 1st in my backyard!!  I was bummed I didn’t see the northern flicker but hopefully it is still around and I will catch her again!  Also, the suet feeder hanging on the deck was missing.  I took my dogs for a walk and found it out in the yard.  I have seen this huge red squirrel lately and am sure that is the culprit!  Looks like I will have to buy a squirrel feeder now too.  Any tips on keeping them away from the bird feeders??

…female cardinal…

The cardinals try so hard to get on this feeder and they are just too big.  This was the first time I witnessed success….but it was shaky.  haha!

…male cardinal…

…hairy woodpecker…

…downy woodpecker…

…blacked-capped chickadee…

Have a great week!

Good luck with the squirrels–as far as I know there is no cure!
I tied my suet feeder to the tree with a wire coat hanger. ha! I had to learn the hard way too.
Giving them their own feeder is a waste of $.
What kind of tree is that where the cardinals are? a Birch of some type?

I caught one this morning up on my birdhouse eating seed. I will post the picture when I get home!! It must be the kid of the big red squirrel we have been seeing! haha! I might try the coat hanger trick on my suet on the deck! My husband thinks that is a cherry tree. I’m not really sure. I will do some investigating!
Have a great day! Glad you are back to blogging!! 🙂
